If you missed the Tomodachi Life Nintendo Direct yesterday, you’re missing out on one of the most hilarious presentations Nintendo has ever done. While the game is releasing exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS in June, producer Yoshio Sakamoto has stated that he believes the concept could work well on a home console like the Wii U.
Tomodachi Life Wii U
In a recent interview, Sakamoto talked a little about the game, saying that while it may seem similar to Animal Crossing, the game isn’t really influenced by the franchise. As for a console version of the game, it’s not out of the question, but it’s something the development team will have to discuss now that a Western localization is becoming available.
According to Sakamoto, development on the series took two years, while the localization process for the game took another year. There were some outside developers contracted to help with the making of the game, and the reason why the original version of the game wasn’t localized is due to the restrictions of the Nintendo DS.
